2019 Japanese Seasonal Calendar
date - 08/2019
January Example
April Example

A calendar design inspired by iconic seasonal Japanese elements of nature. Each month is represented individually by a unique abstraction of the seasonal element, which ranges from flowers to fruits, all icons that hold a significant cultural meaning representing the month.

Stylistically, the colors are derived from the featured piece of nature associated with the month, and the designs themselves are geometrically abstracted variations of their natural form counterparts.

The design seeks to harmonize the verticality and fluidity of eastern forms with the the more horizontally bound and rigid western forms.

This project is dedicated and inspired by my grandmother, who introduced me to the importance of calendar aesthetics at a young age. (Love you grandma.)
